Lara Scouller

Award winning Scottish artist Lara Scouller portrays the natural world at it’s most beautiful and vulnerable – preferring to work directly from life Lara is able to respond intuitively to her surroundings. Her subject matter varies from unusual tree forms to found objects. Most recently working from museum collections including animals and objects of curiosity. Lara has travelled extensively in search for similar subjects including several lengthy stays in Tring which houses one of the largest ornithological collections in the world. Closer to home she has found Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, the D’arcy Thompson’s Zoology Museum in Dundee, Aberdeen’s Zoology collection and lately St. Andrews Bell Pettigrew Museum to be rich sources of material.

Lara has exhibited her work widely throughout the UK and regularly shows at the Open Eye Gallery, Edinburgh. Since graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2006, she has worked hard to maintain her art practice and has received many awards, including the prestigious Pastel Society Young Artist Award at The Pastel Society’s 114th Annual Exhibition, London and the James Torrance Memorial award at The Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, Glasgow.
