Leslie McLaren
Style Guide: Landscape
Trained at Exeter College of Art
Lesley was born in Glasgow in 1959 and lived in central Scotland until venturing south to Devon, where she attained a Degree in painting at Exeter College of Art. After a few years she returned home to Scotland and has been living and working in the Borders ever since. Now painting full time, she immerses herself in the beauty of the landscape and animals around her cottage. "A painting is the showcase for my quiet observations - the blackbird who hops in my studio every day for his lunch, bulky black and white cows meandering up a green hill , whispering silver birches reaching for a black thundery sky. Waiting and watching for a glimpse of drama ...."
The popularity of Lesley's work is growing rapidly both in Scotland and England, perhaps as a result of people increasingly turning towards a more natural and simplistic way of life. Her paintings reflect this ethos.
She exhibits extensively throughout Scotland and several galleries in England.
